Schmelz search continues for missing 55-year-old jogger

A large-scale search operation is underway in Schmelz, Germany, for a 55-year-old man who has been missing since Sunday, August 23. The man disappeared after departing for a jog around 11:00 a.m. from Heidestraße.

Approximately 400 people, including police officers, search dogs, and volunteers, have participated in the search efforts. On Tuesday, a police helicopter from the Rhineland-Palatinate squadron was deployed to scan the forested area near Heidebad, though the flight was eventually concluded.

Authorities have requested that volunteers do not enter the forest area independently or drive vehicles into the woods, as these actions may obstruct official search measures and emergency services.
