Schmitz Cargobull reports €2.25B revenue amid rising costs

Schmitz Cargobull reported a revenue increase to approximately €2.25 billion for the 2025-26 financial year, up from €2.16 billion the previous year. The company delivered more than 47,000 vehicles, maintaining a 25 per cent share of the European trailer market.

Despite the revenue and volume growth, profitability declined due to market volatility, intense price competition, and rising energy, labor, and raw material costs. EBITDA fell to €45.6 million from €57.1 million, while EBIT dropped to -€13.3 million from -€8.2 million. CEO Andreas Schmitz noted that the negative EBIT indicates a need for action to improve sustainable profitability.

The company invested €55.5 million in production, digitalization, and innovation, including the commissioning of a new manufacturing facility in Oradea, Romania. Looking ahead, the company aims for sales of approximately 49,000 vehicles in the 2026/27 financial year and continues international expansion, including the acquisition of a majority stake in Australia’s Freighter Group.
