Schneider Electric reports on AI and technology for resource management

Schneider Electric has released research detailing how artificial intelligence and digital technologies can optimize energy and water usage.

A study presented at the 2026 New York Climate Week, titled ‘AI for Climate: Quantifying the Energy and Carbon Impact of Building Optimization’, suggests that integrating AI into digital building management systems can reduce total energy consumption by up to 22% compared to traditional controls. By layering AI over existing systems, buildings can automate HVAC adjustments in real-time using data from occupancy patterns, weather forecasts, and equipment performance. This optimization is estimated to provide additional energy savings between 7.2% and 12.7% over standard digital systems.

In a separate report, ‘The Water Crunch Report’, the company examines industrial water risk in Europe. The research indicates that 52% of surveyed industrial leaders expect water quality or availability to be a significant barrier to growth over the next five years, while 44% reported that water stress has increased operating costs recently. The report highlights that while many leaders are aware of digital tools like digital twins and predictive analytics, adoption rates remain lower than awareness levels.
