Schneider Electric to acquire Cognite for $3.1 billion, boosting industrial AI
Schneider Electric announced a definitive agreement to purchase 100% of Cognite Holding in an all‑cash transaction valued at $3.1 billion. Cognite, founded in 2017, provides cloud‑native industrial data and AI software and employs roughly 800 staff across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia‑Pacific.
The acquisition is intended to strengthen Schneider’s industrial‑AI offering and to expand the capabilities of AVEVA’s CONNECT platform. After regulatory approval and closing, Cognite will be integrated with AVEVA within Schneider’s Industrial Automation business, creating a unified stack that spans data collection, knowledge‑graph contextualisation and AI‑driven automation across the asset lifecycle. The deal positions Schneider against rivals such as Siemens, Honeywell, Rockwell Automation and major cloud providers seeking to dominate the industrial data layer.
