Schönheider Wölfe celebrate 90 years of ice hockey

The Schönheider Wölfe ice hockey club is celebrating its 90th anniversary with a three-day festival in Schönheide. The event, running from Friday to Sunday, includes team presentations, music, and various hockey matches at the Wolfsbau arena.

Scheduled highlights include a youth tournament and a traditional “Meister 2008 & Friends” game. The club will also play a preseason match against the EHC Bayreuth Tigers. Coach Sven Schröder noted that the team is currently in a preparation phase, focusing on correcting defensive errors following recent matches against ERSC Amberg.

In recent competitive action, the Wölfe traveled to Dornbirn to face the Hockey Club Tigers 1985. Despite playing with a depleted roster due to injuries and supported by approximately 450 fans, the team fought closely but ultimately lost 4-3 following a late power-play goal by the hosts.
