Schofield vs. Bahdi set for vacant WBA lightweight title in Chicago

Golden Boy Promotions and DAZN will present a nine-bout boxing card at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago on Friday, October 9, 2026. The event features two world title bouts, headlined by Floyd Schofield versus Lucas Bahdi for the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight title.

Schofield, an undefeated fighter from Texas, enters the bout as the favorite according to betting odds. He faces Bahdi, an undefeated Canadian contender known for his power and pressure fighting style. Both fighters have experienced periods of inactivity leading up to this championship match.

In pre-fight comments, Schofield expressed confidence in his preparation, stating that he believes his sparring partners are superior to Bahdi. While noting he does not intend to engage in personal trash talk, Schofield suggested that his study of Bahdi has not revealed any unique challenges he has not already encountered in training.
