Scholarship recipients overcome financial hardship in Vietnam

Two individuals in Vietnam have successfully pursued higher education after overcoming significant financial obstacles through scholarship support.

Nguyen Xuan Tho, a 27-year-old professional in the hospitality industry, is returning to university after a nine-year hiatus. Having postponed his studies at age 18 to support his family following his parents' divorce, Tho has now been awarded the ‘Chắp cánh ước mơ’ scholarship from RMIT University Vietnam. He will study for a Bachelor of Tourism and Hotel Management.

Dr. Pham Quang Huy, currently the Principal of Dong Thap College, shared his journey of overcoming poverty. Raised in a farming family in Dong Thap province, Huy relied on the ‘Tiếp sức đến trường’ scholarship from Tuoi Tre newspaper in 1998 to fund his tuition and studies. Despite the challenges of traveling across the Tien River to attend school, Huy and his three siblings all achieved academic success, with several entering the education sector.
