School bullying prevention initiatives and psychological support strategies
Educational initiatives and psychological guidance are being emphasized to address school bullying and student well-being. In Tinogasta, Argentina, the municipality’s Interdisciplinary Education Team is implementing the “Puentes de Cuidado” (Bridges of Care) project. This inter-institutional program targets primary school students in fourth, fifth, and sixth grades, focusing on emotional expression, empathy, and the prevention of violence. The initiative aligns with national regulations that mandate the protection of student dignity, the rejection of discrimination, and the use of dialogue to resolve coexistence issues.
In Spain, child and adolescent psychologist Conchi Martínez Sánchez highlights the psychological impact of bullying during the return to school. She notes that victims often experience intense fear and insecurity due to instinctive protective responses when the school environment no longer feels safe. Martínez advises that adults should provide clear support by validating the victim's experience, stating, “We believe you, this is important, and we are going to help you,” rather than offering empty guarantees that the harassment will not recur.
