School bus skids in mud on unfinished road in Florești District

A school bus carrying 56 students from Hîrtop to Ghindești skidded into a ditch due to heavy mud and rain on a regional road in the Florești District. While no children were injured in the incident, many students were left in shock, leading some parents to withdraw them from school for the day.

The road is currently undergoing repairs, which the National Road Administration reports are only approximately 7% complete. Work on the 9.63-kilometer sector began in April 2025, but progress has been slowed by technical deficiencies in the existing embankment and necessary project modifications. The completion deadline has been extended to November 30, 2027.

In response to the incident, the Ministry of Education and Research announced that the large bus will be replaced by two smaller school minibuses starting tomorrow. These smaller vehicles are expected to navigate the muddy, unfinished road more safely and easily.
