School City of Hammond bans metal water bottles
The School City of Hammond public school district in Indiana has implemented an immediate ban on all metal drink containers, including popular brands such as Stanley, Yeti, and Owala.
In a letter to parents, the district stated that while these reusable bottles are highly popular among students, they are considered “blunt objects that can be used as a dangerous weapon.” The decision was made “out of an abundance of caution” to ensure the safety of students on all school properties.
