School feeding programs in Colombia and Peru enhance logistics

School feeding programs (PAE) in Colombia and Peru are implementing strategic measures to ensure student nutrition. In the Atlántico department of Colombia, the program has reached approximately 70% execution of its 2026 budget, serving 95,921 students across 20 municipalities. This represents a significant increase in coverage compared to the previous year, with a focus on rural areas, ethnic communities, and students with disabilities.

In Peru, the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis) is coordinating with the Peruvian Navy to prepare for potential disruptions caused by the El Niño phenomenon. The collaboration aims to establish maritime and fluvial transport alternatives to ensure food delivery to remote and indigenous communities if traditional routes become impassable due to weather conditions. The PAE in Peru currently serves over 4.1 million students nationwide.
