School fires reported in Sierra Leone and Kenya

Two separate school fires were reported in Sierra Leone and Kenya on Sunday.

In Kambia, Sierra Leone, a fire broke out at Kolenten Junior Secondary School, destroying part of the premises. While the cause is unknown and no casualties have been confirmed, the incident threatens to disrupt learning for hundreds of students. Local community members assisted in containing the flames.

In Kericho County, Kenya, a fire engulfed a dormitory at Tengecha Boys High School. Emergency responders and local residents from the Kapkatet community worked to contain the blaze and rescue students' belongings. No casualties have been reported, and all students have been accounted for. The incident has renewed discussions regarding fire safety standards in Kenyan boarding schools following a fatal dormitory fire in Nakuru County earlier this year.
