School infrastructure projects underway in Paraguay and Peru

In Paraguay, the reconstruction of Escuela Básica nº 975 San Miguel in Ciudad del Este is progressing with a 2.2 million USD investment. The project, part of a national program to build 17 emblematic educational centers, involves the complete demolition of old structures to make way for 7,072 square meters of new facilities. The new school will include classrooms for levels ranging from maternal to secondary education, laboratories, and administrative spaces. It is also designed to include dining areas to support the Hambre Cero school feeding program, with completion expected by March 2027.

In Peru, parents and students at the José Olaya institution in Yanaquihua, Condesuyos, are protesting delays in a school reconstruction project. Despite an approved budget of 17 million soles, the project has been stalled for over three years. The President of the Parents' Association, Emerson Álvarez, attributed the delay to a lack of trained officials within the Regional Government of Arequipa. While a contract signing with an execution company is reportedly scheduled for December 16, no official start date for physical construction has been confirmed.
