School safety concerns rise in Belgrade and Zadar due to traffic issues

The start of the new school year has highlighted significant traffic safety and infrastructure concerns in Belgrade and Zadar.

In Belgrade, students at the Sixth Belgrade Gymnasium faced ongoing construction in Milan Rakić Street on their first day of school. Works, which have lasted over 100 days, have left the area without proper traffic signaling, pedestrian crossings, or safety bollards. Local representatives noted that the noise and dust from the machinery are disrupting classes, and the lack of markings poses a safety risk for students.

In Zadar, citizens have raised alarms regarding dangerous traffic points near local schools. Residents are calling for the installation of speed bumps on Jurja Dobrile Street to curb speeding near school zones. Additionally, concerns were voiced regarding a narrow and obscured intersection at the junction of Put Kotarskih serdara and Ulice Hrvatskog sabora, which serves as an exit to a major bypass.
