School security concerns rise following violent incidents in Turkey

Concerns are mounting regarding increasing violence and security vulnerabilities within schools. Kubilay Bayır, head of the Zafer Party Keşan Youth Branch, criticized the current state of educational environments, noting incidents involving students carrying weapons and engaging in knife attacks. Bayır argued that simply placing security guards at school gates is insufficient and called for addressing root causes, such as issues within the education system, family structures, and the normalization of violence in media.

Ali Avcu, President of the Publishers Assistance Association (YAYDER), also issued a statement addressing a series of violent incidents. He cited specific tragedies, including fatal attacks on teachers and students in Istanbul, Kahramanmaraş, and Osmaniye. Avcu emphasized that the responsibility for ensuring school safety should not fall on parents' ability to pay or individual groups, but rather requires comprehensive action from public administration, school management, and families to ensure the right to education is exercised in a safe environment.
