School sports facilities undergo repairs and face delays in Bosnia and Croatia

Educational institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia are addressing needs for sports infrastructure. In Doboj, students at Sveti Sava Elementary School have begun the new school year without access to their physical education hall. The facility was closed in November 2024 due to damage and collapse risks. While local authorities previously promised completion by the start of the school year, the tender for demolition was only issued in September, leaving students to hold physical education classes outdoors.

In Croatia, the Dubrovnik-Neretva County is currently executing a project to renovate the outdoor sports playgrounds at Dubrovnik Gymnasium. The project, valued at approximately 192,028 euros, is co-funded by the Ministry of Tourism and Sport and the county. Works include replacing worn concrete slabs and installing new equipment such as hoops, goals, and floodlights. The renovation is expected to be completed by the end of October 2026.
