School violence incidents reported at elementary schools in Serbia

Reports of physical violence and bullying involving students have emerged from two different elementary schools in Serbia.

At the ‘Vožd Karađorđe’ elementary school in Leskovac, parents reported that a second-grade student physically attacked three girls during a school break. According to one father, the student punched one girl in the chest, kicked another in the stomach, and struck a third in the shoulder and back. The parents sought medical examinations at a children's clinic and reported the incident to the police, alleging that the school failed to respond adequately and that the student had previously exhibited similar behavioral issues. There were also claims that the student threatened to bring a knife to school.

In a separate incident at the ‘Braća Jerković’ elementary school in Čukarica, a group of older students reportedly attacked two boys, throwing one into a trash container. The victim sustained impacts to his head, neck, arm, and hip. Following the initial incident, the attackers allegedly cornered the victims in a restroom and threatened them with further violence. The mother of one of the victims expressed frustration, stating that the school did not notify parents of the incident and that the perpetrators faced minimal disciplinary action because the attack occurred just outside the school fence.
