School violence prevention initiatives launched in Peru and Guatemala
Efforts to combat school violence and bullying are being prioritized through psychological support and family involvement in Peru and Guatemala.
In Peru, psychologist Elva Franco Delgado emphasizes that preventing bullying requires permanent programs focused on values, social skills, and emotional regulation. Key strategies include developing empathy, teaching students to manage emotions like frustration and anger, and maintaining continuous dialogue between schools and families to detect issues early.
In Guatemala, Vice Minister of the Secretariat of Education Angélica Sandres announced projects to strengthen school coexistence. The initiative involves deploying counselors, orienters, and guide teachers to provide psychological and pedagogical support to students. The plan also aims to complement the national ‘School for Parents’ program, encouraging families to reinforce values at home to ensure student safety and well-being.
