School year start: Guidance for student stress and youth leadership
As the new school year begins, experts and community leaders are offering guidance for navigating transitions and managing stress.
Mental health professionals from the Liga za duševné zdravie advise parents to monitor their children closely for signs of stress, such as sleep disturbances, loss of interest, or physical ailments like stomach aches. Specialist Stanislava Knut suggests that parents move away from general questions like ‘how was it?’ and instead ask about specific experiences, such as what amused or angered the child, to better understand their emotional state.
In the context of youth organizations, new scout leaders are encouraged to focus on group bonding and gradual integration rather than strict instruction. The emphasis is placed on creating a welcoming environment through rituals and activities that help members get to know one another, rather than treating the group like a formal classroom setting.
