Schools in Chubut face violence and vandalism incidents
Educational institutions in the Chubut region of Argentina are facing increased security concerns following separate incidents of violence and vandalism.
At Escuela N°758 in Esquel, authorities are investigating a series of incidents including an intentional fire started in a classroom ceiling and a pepper spray attack against a 17-year-old student. Parents have expressed alarm regarding the safety of students and a perceived lack of institutional response to these events.
In El Bolsón, the Centro de Educación Media de Adultos (CEM) 94 has implemented permanent police presence during school hours. This measure follows a criminal complaint against an adult student accused of physically assaulting the school director and harassing a teacher. Despite a judicial restraining order, the individual recently approached the premises, contributing to a climate of fear among staff and students.
