Schools in Oklahoma and Florida placed on lockdown following non-credible threats
Multiple schools in Oklahoma and Florida were placed on lockdown following threats that authorities later determined were not credible.
In Claremore, Oklahoma, Claremore High School, Will Rogers Junior High, and Roosa Elementary were placed under lockdown after a threat was reported. The Claremore Police Department identified the incident as a swatting attempt involving a spoofed phone number. While lockdown protocols have been lifted and schools have returned to normal operations, police will maintain an increased presence on campus.
In Hollywood, Florida, Hollywood Hills High School and Stirling Elementary were locked down following a threat made in the vicinity of North 56th Avenue and Stirling Road. Broward County Public Schools officials reported that officers conducted classroom-by-classroom searches to ensure all students were accounted for. The Hollywood Police Department completed its safety assessment and declared the campuses safe, leading to an early release for students.
