Schools in Serang and Padang return to in-person learning

Educational authorities in Serang and Padang have announced the return to in-person learning following periods of distance learning (PJJ) necessitated by environmental concerns.

In Serang, the Education and Culture Office revoked the distance learning policy due to improving air quality following the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau. Schools are expected to resume face-to-face instruction starting Monday, September 15, though officials have requested that strict health protocols remain in place.

In Padang, the Education Office decided to end distance learning as of Monday, September 14, following a three-day period of remote instruction caused by hazardous air quality from forest and land fires. To mitigate health risks, students and teachers are required to wear masks, and schools have been instructed to cancel outdoor activities and sports. Students exhibiting symptoms of respiratory infections are permitted to stay home.
