Schreiner ProTech unveils in‑line particle cleaning for EV parts

Schreiner ProTech, a division of the Schreiner Group, has introduced a new in‑line "Bahnreinigung" (track cleaning) system that removes particles directly on the production line. The technology targets the automotive sector, where even a metal particle smaller than a human hair can cause a short circuit in battery housings or power‑electronics of electric vehicles. It meets stringent standards such as VDA 19.1, VDA 19.2 and ISO 16232, and operates under ISO‑7 clean‑room conditions.

The system was developed after analysing roughly 600 samples of raw and finished materials in the company’s own R&D lab. Dr. Manuel Ulmer, head of Technical Cleanliness at Schreiner Group, said, "We wanted to address the problem at the root rather than building more cleanrooms." The solution integrates a dedicated analysis laboratory using extraction methods, REM‑EDX and infrared spectroscopy to continuously monitor and evaluate particle contamination.

The new cleaning line is now in use at Schreiner ProTech’s process centre for pressure‑equalising elements, supporting the tighter particle‑contamination limits demanded by the EV industry.
