Schwabmünchen begins new social housing construction projects

New social housing construction projects are commencing in Schwabmünchen. The Wohnbaugesellschaft des Landkreises Augsburg (WBL) is managing developments at two primary locations.

In Sudetenstraße, existing structures are being demolished to make way for 45 new residential units, an increase from the previous 35. Construction is scheduled to begin in February 2027, with an expected completion date in mid-2029. The project, costing nearly 19 million euros, is partially funded by the federal government’s ‘Infrastructure and Climate Neutrality’ special fund.

A second phase is planned for Günzstraße in the southwest of the city. Following the completion of design planning by the end of 2024, the WBL intends to develop 24 residential units and 21 underground parking spaces on a 3,100 square meter plot. The project will seek funding through the government of Swabia’s 2027 construction program.
