German districts launch community events and public service upgrades

In Schweinfurt County, officials celebrated foster families at a summer festival, highlighting their role in providing stable homes for children in need. County Executive Florian Töpper praised the participants and outlined ongoing support.

Later in July, the Schweinfurt regional bus network will be adjusted on 15 August 2026, with revised timetables aimed at shorter travel times and better connections on several routes, including the addition of demand‑stop services.

Construction began on a new recycling‑centre in Üchtelhausen, also part of Schweinfurt County. The €1.3 million facility will accept sorted waste such as electronics, plastics and metal, improving local waste‑management and environmental protection. Mayor Johannes Grebner and Executive Florian Töpper attended the groundbreaking.

Kronach County launched a "Family‑Checker" project encouraging residents to evaluate local attractions for family friendliness. Participants can rate sites via an online 360° portal, with a chance to win a €50 Frankenwald‑Card.

In Kulmbach, a special shuttle service of five leisure‑bus lines will transport attendees to the city’s annual Beer Festival on 1 August 2026, operating on a set evening schedule and returning after midnight.

Additionally, a German church youth group documented its summer activities in Veijle, Belgium, and a personal travel diary described weekend outings in Saxony, illustrating the variety of leisure pursuits across the region.
