Schwerin to host concert featuring music of persecuted composers

On November 13, 2026, the Festival of Outcast Music (Festival der Verfemten Musik) will host a special concert in Schwerin. The event, held at the Brigitte Feldtmann Hall of the Schwerin Conservatory, focuses on works by composers whose lives and careers were impacted by political upheaval, persecution, and exile during the 20th century.

The concert serves as a prize-winner performance for the International Interpretation Competition of Outcast Music in Rostock. The featured performers are the Munich-based duo Laterne, consisting of saxophonist Zihao Wang and pianist Xintian Zhu, who were awarded first prize in the competition. Their program aims to restore visibility to musical works that were suppressed due to political, social, or personal reasons, particularly those marginalized during the National Socialist era.
