Sciacca Councilor demands repairs for Via Marco Polo

City Councilor Ignazio Bivona has submitted a formal inquiry to the Sciacca municipal administration regarding the deteriorating conditions of Via Marco Polo. The strategic artery, which serves as a primary access route to the city’s major tourist and hotel facilities, including the Mangia’s complex, is currently suffering from broken or irregular public lighting and a damaged road surface.

Bivona warned that the lack of illumination creates significant safety risks for motorists, pedestrians, residents, and tourists during evening and nighttime hours. The inquiry requests that the administration clarify the causes of the lighting failures, confirm if technical inspections have been conducted, and provide a definitive timeline for repairs.

Additionally, the councilor has called for an extraordinary assessment of the asphalt to determine if localized repairs or a complete resurfacing is required. Bivona also proposed that a portion of the city's tourist tax revenue be allocated toward improving the infrastructure and services essential to the local tourism sector.
