Sciacca Court orders parents to pay damages for minor's assault

The Court of Sciacca has ordered the parents of a minor to pay over 30,000 euros in damages to a victim following an assault that occurred in February 2021. The incident involved two 15-year-old adolescents and was reportedly triggered by a dispute over jealousy.

The victim sustained significant injuries, including fractured nasal bones and damage to lower incisors. Medical assessments during the legal proceedings confirmed that the victim suffers from permanent physical consequences resulting from the attack.

The court recognized the civil liability of the parents, noting that under civil law, parents can be held responsible for damages caused by their minor children if they fail to fulfill their educational and supervisory duties. The ruling concludes a legal process initiated by the victim's family to seek redress for the long-term harm caused by the assault.
