Sciacca restarts private water trucks as Trapani prepares BRT launch

In Sciacca, private water‑truck operators will resume service tomorrow after a months‑long suspension that began on 9 February. The halt resulted from a dispute with the regional water manager Aica over new supply procedures. Operator Agostino Montalbano will restart with three trucks, while drivers Bono and Venezia are also ready to return to work.

In Trapani, the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line is set to start operating in mid‑July, according to Mayor Giacomo Tranchida. The 5.4‑kilometre route will run one‑way initially, with horizontal signage now installed. The system aims to reduce private‑car traffic in the historic centre despite ongoing criticism from some citizens and officials.
