Scicli hosts 33rd Peppe Greco international running race

The 33rd edition of the Peppe Greco international running race is set to take place in Scicli. The event includes youth races, a flag parade, and the presentation of elite athletes.

At Palazzo Spadaro, honorary citizenship will be conferred upon legendary long-distance runners Haile Gebrselassie, Paul Tergat, and Stefano Baldini. The ceremony was rescheduled due to travel disruptions caused by Etna's volcanic activity, which forced the athletes to land in Palermo instead of Catania.

The event features Nadia Battocletti as godmother. Elite competitors include French world champion Jimmy Gressier and Eritrean runner Dawit Seare. Local traffic in the historic center, specifically via San Bartolomeo, will be restricted to accommodate the race.
