Science and biotechnology initiatives highlight agricultural innovation in Italy

The Food&Science Festival Lab is expanding its presence in the province of Alessandria, Italy, with an itinerant program scheduled for October. Spanning locations such as Alessandria, Casale Monferrato, Novi Ligure, Ovada, and Tortona, the event aims to bridge the gap between farmers, researchers, and citizens. The 2026 edition, themed ‘Agriculture and Science, the Necessary Turning Point,’ focuses on how innovation and technology are transforming food production, covering topics like water management, carbon farming, and new genetic techniques.

In a related scientific showcase, researchers from the University of Verona’s Biotechnology Department presented various advancements during European Biotech Week 2026. Held at the Natural History Museum and the Academy of Agriculture, Science, and Letters, the presentations covered diverse fields including biodiversity, fermented foods, DNA analysis for species protection, and genetic modification in viticulture. The event also highlighted the development of biomaterials and nanomaterials for biomedical applications.
