Science and music intersection featured in upcoming Italian cultural events

Several upcoming cultural events in Italy aim to bridge the gap between musical performance and scientific principles.

In Pordenone, the event ‘Codici Sonori’ is scheduled for September 11, 2026, at the Capitol. This concert-show features the Banda in Rosa, directed by Monica Giust and Mara Guglielmin, alongside scientific commentary from Professor Andrea Romanino, Director of SISSA. The program explores the mathematical and physical structures of sound, including rhythm, scales, and proportions. This initiative is part of the ‘In marcia verso il futuro’ project, supported by the Municipality of Pordenone as part of the ‘Verso Pordenone Capitale Italiana della Cultura 2027’ program.

Additionally, Vincenzo Schettini will present ‘La fisica della musica’ at the Teatro Manzoni in Massarosa on November 14, 2026. Schettini, a science communicator and musician, uses a theatrical format to explain physical phenomena such as vibrations, frequencies, and waves through the lens of music. The performance is designed to make complex scientific concepts accessible and engaging through a dynamic mix of storytelling and musical elements.
