Science education initiatives for children in Germany
Various science and STEM education initiatives are targeting young learners in Germany. In Berlin, the KinderUni Lichtenberg (KULe) will host a Science Day on November 7, 2026, at the Anna-Seghers-Bibliothek in Hohenschönhausen. The free event for children aged eight and up includes lectures on the importance of water by Prof. Dr. Stephan Seeck, a climate protection workshop with Sigrid Tschepe, a psychology session on lying with Henriette Binder, and optical illusion experiments led by the Forschergarten Berlin.
In Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein Minister President Daniel Günther participated in an ocean-themed learning session at the CompanyKids daycare center. Organized by the Stiftung Kinder forschen and the IHK Kiel, the event highlighted the importance of early STEM education. The initiative aims to foster curiosity and sustainable thinking in children by exploring marine life and ocean science through hands-on discovery.
