Science Saru’s anime “Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia” releases new Mongolia‑arc trailer and adds three voice‑cast members
Science Saru’s series *Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia* premiered on Crunchyroll on July 4 after a screening in the Annecy TV Films competition. Executive producer Naoko Yamada and director Abel Góngora highlighted their effort to portray Persian, Mongolian and Islamic cultures respectfully, consulting cultural advisors and visiting a mosque in Tokyo.
A new trailer focusing on the Mongolia story arc has been released, showcasing the expansion of the Mongol Empire and introducing three royal consort characters. The trailer announces Misaki Kuno as Sorghaghtani, Ayaka Asai as Möge and Mayumi Shintani as a Kirgistani figure, expanding the series’ world‑building. An illustration of the character Boraqchin was also shared. The anime adapts the manga by Tomato Soup, set in 13th‑century Iran and follows the enslaved girl Sitara as she becomes known as “the witch.”
The production team emphasized avoiding Orientalist tropes and aimed for authentic visual and narrative treatment of the historical settings while taking artistic liberties where needed.
