Scientific alliance to study Colombian gut microbiome
A scientific alliance between Inversiones BEC and Astrolab Biotecnología, linked to Universidad EAFIT, has launched a project to study the intestinal microbiome of the Colombian population. Using next-generation sequencing (NGS), bioinformatics, and fecal sample analysis, the initiative aims to understand the specific characteristics of the microorganisms inhabiting the digestive tracts of Colombians.
The research seeks to generate localized scientific evidence to support the development of precision nutrition strategies tailored to the country's population. By analyzing microbial diversity, researchers hope to observe changes related to various health interventions and better understand the relationship between the microbiome and digestive health.
