Scientific Chemistry Circle celebrates 100th anniversary
The Scientific Chemistry Circle of students at the Gdańsk University of Technology celebrated its centenary jubilee. The event brought together multiple generations of chemists to reflect on the organization's history and discuss its future.
Founded on May 22, 1925, the circle was established by Polish students studying at what was then a German institution, demonstrating a commitment to academic community and the Polish language despite difficult conditions. During the ceremony, current president Alan Kreft presented the organization's current activities and future plans.
The jubilee included a historical presentation by Łukasz Katlewicz and honored former supervisors, including Professor Jan Hupka, Professor Marek Lieder, and Henryk Gorzeń, for their long-term support of student scientific development. The celebration concluded with a panel discussion titled ‘100 years of chemistry between us’, focusing on the past, present, and future of the student scientific movement.
