Scientific evidence lacks link between parent social events and child well-being

Sociologists and psychologists are questioning the common belief that social gatherings for parents, such as cocktail evenings or overnight trips, improve the well-being of children in school classes.

While many teachers and politicians claim these events strengthen class cohesion, sociologist Maria Ørskov Akselvoll states there is no concrete scientific evidence linking parent parties to increased student well-being. Mads Thomsen, a lecturer in pedagogical psychology at UCL, echoes this sentiment, noting the lack of empirical studies on the connection.
