Scientific institutions in Mexico promote ecology and conservation

Various academic and scientific initiatives in Mexico are highlighting the importance of ecology and biodiversity conservation. At CUCBA, the Department of Ecology has organized an exhibition featuring eleven sections developed by nine researchers. The display includes biological collections, research tools such as GPS devices and camera traps, and historical measurement instruments used in Lake Chapala. Exhibits also showcase native species from the Lerma-Chapala basin, pollinators, and marine life from the coasts of Jalisco.

Additionally, the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Iztapalapa hosted 'Murcisemana UAM-I 2026,' an event dedicated to the study and conservation of bats. Through lectures, workshops, and field practices in Aquixtla, Puebla, the initiative aims to combat prejudices against these mammals and demonstrate their role in ecosystem balance. The event involved specialists from the IPN and UNAM, incorporating biological, hydrobiological, and anthropological perspectives.
