Scientific outreach events held in Panama and Mexico

Scientific outreach events were held in Panama and Mexico to promote research and public engagement.

In Panama, the fourth edition of Expo ConCiencia took place at the Ciudad del Saber Convention Center on September 25, 2026. Organized as part of the Ibero-American Night of Researchers by the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI), the event featured over 100 research projects and activities. This year's theme focused on the social sciences, aiming to highlight research that helps understand people and society, as well as its role in generating evidence for public policy.

In Mexico City, the tenth edition of Zócalo de las Ciencias drew over a thousand attendees. The event included 40 tents and participation from more than 30 institutions. Highlights included demonstrations of astronomical instruments, such as a verification camera for the Gran Telescopio Canarias developed by the UNAM Institute of Astronomy in collaboration with CIDESI. The event aimed to make complex scientific topics, ranging from astronomy to daily life, accessible to families through direct interaction and questioning.
