Scientific studies examine physical performance and activity perceptions
Various academic studies have explored the intersection of physical activity, performance, and psychological perceptions.
A doctoral thesis conducted in Latvia from 2022 to 2024 evaluated the effects of an eight-week resistance exercise program on young football players. The research found significant differences in peak power output based on playing position, with forwards demonstrating higher output than midfielders. Additionally, the study noted differences in average medial-lateral speed between dominant and non-dominant legs.
Research from the University of Notre Dame Australia examined how perceptions of physical activity at age 14 influence fitness at age 17. Analyzing 1,056 participants, the study found that intrinsic health and social factors were the primary drivers for valuing physical activity. It also noted that males rated extrinsic factors more highly than females.
Furthermore, a dissertation from the University of Central Florida investigated the jammer arm punch press (JPP). The study assessed the reliability of load-velocity profiles for the JPP and explored how high-intensity intermittent exercise and dehydration impact motor coordination and cognitive reaction inhibition.
