Scientific study predicts 2026 global collapse based on 1960 population models

A 1960 scientific study has resurfaced due to its prediction of a global collapse on November 13, 2026. Conducted by Heinz von Foerster, Patricia Mora, and Lawrence Amiot, the research utilized mathematical models to analyze world population growth trends.

The study suggested that if population growth continued at an accelerated rate, it would eventually reach a point of infinity, leading to the exhaustion of food and resources. This was framed as a social and environmental rupture rather than a result of nuclear war or natural disasters.

However, the prediction is not expected to manifest. The actual evolution of the global population has not followed the projected curve, as fertility and demographic growth rates have significantly declined in many countries. Furthermore, von Foerster later described the article, titled ‘Doomsday: Friday, 13 November, A. D. 2026’, as a form of scientific provocation intended to encourage society and the scientific community to re-examine assumptions regarding growth, control, and progress.
