Scilla proposal seeks to link marine and mountain landscapes

The Ente per i Parchi Marini Regionali della Calabria (EPMR) is advancing a proposal to establish a new regional marine park in Scilla. The project aims to integrate the marine environment of the Strait of Messina with the mountainous landscape of Aspromonte, creating a unified environmental and tourism infrastructure designed to promote year-round visitation.

Led by Director General Raffaele Greco, the initiative seeks to move away from viewing sea and mountain as separate landscapes, instead treating them as a single, cohesive ecosystem. The proposal has received significant local support and has been presented to regional institutions to begin the formal establishment process.
