SCM Politehnica Timișoara wins 20th Cupa Timișoara basketball tournament

SCM Politehnica Timișoara, known as the ‘Leii din Banat’, won the 20th edition of the Cupa Timișoara basketball tournament. The team secured the title following two victories: an 80-56 win against KTE-Duna Aszfalt Kecskemét and a narrow 78-75 comeback victory against CSU Sibiu.

Skyler Flatten led the scoring with 24 points, while Trendon Hankerson and Cătălin Baciu contributed 14 points each. CSU Sibiu finished the tournament in second place after defeating KTE-Duna Aszfalt Kecskemét 83-76.

Head coach Dragan Petričević noted that while the team is building chemistry, the second match was a hard-fought struggle. The team is scheduled for a seven-day training camp in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, following their upcoming match against SCMU Craiova. The official squad presentation for the 2026/2027 season is also scheduled to take place in Timișoara.
