SCOR focuses on third-party capital and AI integration

At the RVS 2026 briefing in Monte Carlo, SCOR executives outlined the reinsurer’s strategic focus on third-party capital and artificial intelligence. CEO Thierry Léger stated that the firm views third-party capital as an attractive resource that allows the company to write higher shares of business beyond its own balance sheet size. SCOR has been active in the insurance-linked securities market for 25 years, utilizing tools such as catastrophe bonds through its subsidiary, SCOR Investment Partners.

Regarding technology, Léger noted that SCOR is “totally leaning into AI” to improve efficiency and data-driven decision-making. However, he cautioned that the technology presents significant risks, including increased cyber attacks and governance challenges. He specifically highlighted the rise of “agentic AI-driven people” that may eventually support or independently make underwriting decisions. Léger also pointed to a projected increase in AI-related litigation, noting that current coverage for such exposures is spread across cyber and directors’ and officers’ insurance lines.
