Scorpion and Bedbug Cases Prompt Safety Concerns at Las Vegas Hotels

Two separate incidents at the Silver Sevens Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas have highlighted pest‑related health risks. Guest Linda Culler said she stepped on a scorpion barefoot, noting, "I got up barefooted and walked around the bed and stepped on the scorpion," and required medical treatment that left her unable to walk for two days. A second guest, Sulaiman Lutale, was also stung by a bark scorpion, the most venomous species in North America, during a later stay.

In addition, the Southern Nevada Health District confirmed bedbug infestations at six Strip resorts—Caesars Palace, Bellagio, Cosmopolitan, The Strat, Resorts World, and Horseshoe Las Vegas—based on complaints and inspections between 2024 and early 2025. Each property responded with pest‑control measures and room closures. The cluster of scorpion stings and confirmed bedbug cases has raised concerns about guest safety and sanitation standards across Las Vegas hotels.
