Scotiabank identifies energy transition and service export opportunities in Mexico
Canadian capital presents significant opportunities for Mexico’s energy transition, according to Scotiabank. Manuel Silva, Scotiabank’s Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, noted that opportunities exist across various segments, including renewables, energy storage, and electrification.
For Canadian investors to engage effectively in the Mexican market, Silva emphasized the importance of understanding infrastructure plans, market conditions, and having a local financial partner to navigate regional dynamics. He also highlighted that Canadian companies, such as Scotiabank and TC Energy, already maintain active social investment programs in Mexico.
Beyond physical goods, there is growing potential for the export of knowledge-based services between the two nations. As Canada aims to double its exports to non-U.S. markets by 2035, Mexican small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have the opportunity to form alliances, provide specialized services like software development or engineering, and participate in bilateral B2B trade.
