Scotland completes new affordable housing developments

New affordable housing developments have been completed in Scotland to support diverse residential needs.

In Lochgelly, Fife Council has finished a 44-home extra care community on a site that had been vacant since 2018. The project, delivered by Robertson Partnership Homes, includes 20 amenity homes and a 24-flat residential facility for individuals aged 55 and over. The development features a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom bungalows and flats, including wheelchair-accessible options. To promote energy efficiency, the homes utilize high-performance insulation, A-rated boilers, and solar photovoltaic panels, aiming for an Energy Performance Certificate rating of B.

In South Queensferry, Sanctuary Scotland and Lovell Partnerships have completed the first 100 homes of a larger 398-property masterplan known as The Crossings. This phase consists of 64 two-bedroom flats and 36 houses. These properties utilize offsite-manufactured timber-frame systems and solar panels to achieve an EPC B rating. The development is designed around 20-minute neighbourhood principles, incorporating cycle storage, electric vehicle charging, and connections to local parks.
