Scotland Food & Drink launches campaign amid high demand for local produce
New research from The Knowledge Bank, the insights hub of Scotland Food & Drink, reveals a strong consumer preference for Scottish produce. The data shows that 84% of people in Scotland want to purchase more Scottish food and drink. This preference extends across the United Kingdom, with 52% of all UK shoppers, 51% of shoppers in England, and 50% of shoppers in Northern Ireland favoring Scottish products.
The findings coincide with the launch of Scottish Food & Drink September, a month-long campaign celebrating the nation’s £19 billion food and drink sector. Now in its 17th year, the campaign aims to showcase the quality of local produce and the stories of the producers behind them under the theme “Every Bite Tells a Story”.
To inaugurate the campaign, officials visited Heather Hills Farm in Perthshire. Managed by Mark Noonan, the family-run farm has produced pure Scottish honey since 1945 and currently operates 500 hives containing approximately 20 million bees.
