Scotland railway recovery continues after Storm Boelo

Network Rail is working to restore services across Scotland following the impact of Storm Boelo, which brought 80mph gusts and significant disruption over the weekend. While most services are expected to return to normal on Monday, passengers are advised to check schedules before traveling.

The storm caused flooding at Dalmarnock station and Barrhill, and damaged overhead lines and power systems. Recovery efforts have focused on clearing debris, fallen trees, and repairing infrastructure.

Tragically, the storm resulted in one fatality in Dumfries and Galloway when a falling tree killed a 60-year-old man, and injured two women in Aberfeldy. Specific routes that may still face disruption include services from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh, Inverness to Thurso/Wick, Glasgow Queen Street to Fort William/Oban, and Ayr to Stranraer.
