ScotRail’s New App Launch Causes System Failures in Scotland

ScotRail switched from its Trainline‑powered booking platform to a new official app and website on Thursday, 30 July 2026. Within hours the new system suffered technical faults: many customers were unable to log in, password‑reset emails failed to arrive, and at least one passenger paid for a ticket that never appeared in the app. Commuters described the rollout as a “shambles” on social media.

ScotRail issued an apology, extended access to the old app until midday and said engineers were working to resolve the issues. The operator promised that once the new password reset process is functional, users will be able to view recent booking history on the new platform.
